I couldn't tell you. The Candy Cane has a higher random damage, but I don't know if it compares to the Lightning Rod by any means. I'd have to know more about the Candy Cane before I could give you an opinion, and I'm not gonna buy it, so....maybe RobertM could help you better.

I have a feeling the the Candy Cane is a weaker version of what is inside the Gift Boxes. I would suggest NOT buying, but that is just me. The Lightning Rod is a freakin' awesome weapon. It's up to you though....whether or not you want to take the chance of losing the Lightning Rod for the Candy cane....you'd have to farm for it again if you don't like the Candy.
Which is why i hate AQ now. You have to farm...you can't just play the game. If you want to make it anywhere in AQ, you must spend hours a day farming, which sucks, imo. I liked it much better before, where you could just play the game a little each day and before long, you'd have leveled up and had enough gold to buy something badass. Now you gotta farm farm farm in order to get a lot of gold....and then farm some more, because everything has been tripled in price. If you just play the weekly releases like before, you'll never gain anything.

I dont have much taste for AQ now anyway.
But I do have a quest to reach level 90, and have atleast one Real uber, and not the lesser crap.

Then, get both. Put one in storage, keep the other. Swap when needed. Hybriding is cool like that.
