I'm considering getting rid of the "Cancel" option in Battles and only having the Flee option.

If I do this I'll change the Flee option to enable when the player is at 66% of full health, instead of 50%.
And also have it enable after a certain number of combat turns, in case the battle is in some sort of stalemate.

I need help knowing *why* people Cancel battles. What legitimate reasons are there for canceling?

I know of a few bad reasons, like farming for specific monster targets.

So, no more canceling battles with monsters. And Kalanyr's pushing for all sorts of stupid stuff.
If it's not broken, don't fix it.

Now, THIS is truly retarded. People cancel if they encounter a monster they are unprepared to fight, or don't feel like battling for 20 minutes against Sine Qua Non, or what ever it is. Or they're simply lazy.

I rarely ever get to even 70% HP nowadays. Useless to higher levels.

If we did end up having to show ads to *everyone*, we'd reward the characters with free gold or tokens or something, once per day for having to watch the ads.

Thank you all for your feedback in the earlier thread.
Here's what I've come up with so far:

CURRENT SYSTEM:
* 20+ cancels per login session
* Cancels always take player back to town
* Cancels are often disabled to prevent 'going back to town'
* Flee option when at 50% health
* Quests can move player to specific location when Fleeing or Dying
* 30 second minimum battle time
* No extra delays when logging into game


CHANGE TO:
* No more cancels
* Flee option after 2 battle turns or 70% health
* Special monsters may attempt to prevent the player from fleeing.
* Quests can move player to specific location when Fleeing or Dying (This feature will get used more often if we remind the quest makers about this option)
* Add new "Random Mini-Adventure" quest system designed to have multiple random battles in a row with moderate gold reward at the end.
* Tweak all the "boring" monsters to make them more worthwhile or interesting to fight. (**)
* 25 second minimum battle time
* 30 second minimum login and load character time. (***)



Notes:

(**) For example, the Xyfrag monster could randomly have one of its element defenses (besides Energy) be less powerful than normal.
So, if you happen to have a good strong ice weapon, and *this* Xyfrag is weaker against Ice, you can defeat it faster.

(***) For example, extra 15 second delay when logging into game, unless it takes a long time to login and load user and character data.
This delay may eventually be used for advertising commercial for non-guardian players.
More advertising means more revenue for Artix Entertainment, which means we can continue to increase the max player cap.

If they start showing ads to Guardians, I'm gone.
