I use the new weapon on those quest with alot of Earth Mosters.

It does damage to the monster's weakest element if the monster does earth damage...special bonus damage against worms OR golems

No, because Tharg does FIRE damage.
A good example would be an Earth Dragon. It does EARTH damage to you, and it's weakest element is Wind, so the new weapon would trigger and do Wind damage to it.
